Just 6 Days

Well kid, we made it.

Week 39.  And you, you are the size of a watermelon.  A watermelon!  A "small" one, they say.  But still.  Don't you think that's big enough to warrant coming out to play?  There is a lot more room out here you know.  And your father would really like to get a chance to hold you soon (I think he's jealous that I've got to spend the last 9 months holding you).  And look!  We've got your bed all ready for you.

The Pod by Seed Organic available here!

Beautiful organic detail!  Mommy's in love!
Memay and Granpa Jim bought it for you so you'll always have something around you from them, since they can't always be near!  And the brown fabric in the top photo is a ring sling from Grammy Jen (who is going to hate that I called her Grammy here...) so I'll be able to hold you all the time (AND think how cute both of us will look in it!).

And see that?  You get to sleep right next to us.  So don't worry, you won't ever be far.  That's my side of the bed there, and once you come out I can get rid of the 7847382975923 pillows I use to get comfortable, and there will be even more room for you to come have a cuddle.

Mommy & Baby's side of the room

I know you can't see it in this photo, but the door is just to the left of your bassinet.  Which means that Memay and Aunt Kiki (who are in the bedrooms on either side of us) can pop in and pick you up at a moments notice too.  So see?  We're all ready for you.

I think you'll be happy to see how much love has gone into all of our decorations for you.  The photo just up there, on the left?  That was a wedding present from Uncle Devin and Aunt Rosie - it's a photo of your Mommy & Daddy down at the beach by our house.  We can't wait to take you there!  And the letters hanging on the orange ribbon are from our friends Sinead and Caleb, we'll have to wait to see what your initial is and you can have a letter up there too!  Also on the shelves are the cake toppers that your Aunt Mimi made out of clay for our wedding last July.  And on the bottom shelf, way over on the right, is the blue paper flower that Rosie & Devin made for your dad to wear so he could match the cake topper perfectly.

Baby-ready Wall Art Love

Here is a close up of the three pictures that your Aunt Coro painted for you:

and the little west sprout...
felt the sun from the east...
and began to bloom.

Aren't they gorgeous?!  The "West Sprout" is you, and the "sun" in the East is for all of your family/friends who love you already all the way over in the US.  And here is a fun fact:  both your dad and Memay have their money on you being born on September 11, which is Coro and Taylor's one year wedding anniversary.  Oh!  And to the right in the bottom picture there is a photo of when your Dad proposed to me!  (It wasn't actually during his proposal...we just set up the shot again after the fact.)

And can you believe how many people have HANDMADE blankets for you???  The top one with the owl is from your Great-Grandma Meme (and if you're not careful I just might steal it from you...).  The middle one with the red and orange was made by Aunt Rosie, it has little lions on it and says "the lion sleeps tonight."  And the bottom one is made by a regular at the Pub your dad (and now Aunt Kiki) works at!  Isn't that nice?  She had some fabric, and thought that we would like a blanket for you - and the best part?  The back is tie-dyed!

And here is something fun!  This is your dad's favorite toy when he was a baby, your Grammy Jen says that he would hold the antennae up next to his face and just rub them.  In fact, he loved it so much that this particular glow bug is the 3rd one they had to buy for him!  And the doggie was mine when I was little.  Her name is Princess, which was also the name of our real dog (I wasn't terribly creative as a child I'm afraid).

And here you are!  We can't wait until you come out to see all of this stuff for yourself!

  1. Hey Cara,

I found your blog via Louise. I had the wee babe at Andrea and Joel's engagement party a while back.

All the best with the next few weeks.

    xo Amelia
