Constructing

It occurs to me that, as we build a bakery, we are also building a landscape for Trips childhood.

Covering the walls in paint to serve as his backdrop.  Sanding and polishing floors that will most likely see his first footsteps.  Rounding edges and smoothing rough surfaces.  Polishing stainless steel benches and back splashes, shiny surfaces that will soon be covered in flour dust and baby fingerprints.

Every year Trip and Home Grain Bakery will grow together.  I'll buy blue balloons for Trip, and purple for HGB.  "Oh, you're turning one this year?  So am I."*

A 1-month old Trip, tip-toe danced to sleep by Memay on the bakeries new floors.

A nearly 3-month old Trip, practicing standing next to bags and bags of flour.

Since the 13th of September both baby and bakery have grown remarkably.  What was once a (rather large) bump under my elastic maternity jeans is now a 12 week old child who likes to try to stand on his own and smile at ceiling fans and faces.  What was once a dark and dusty old building is now a bright and airy soon-to-be-bakery.  Both grow together.  Slowly becoming closer and closer to who they will eventually be.

A pram and car seat for now, a chair for later.

You have a baby.  In a bakery!

I am determined to record all of the minute and mundane details of each as they continue to grow.  "Oh! Look at Trip in this picture, that's when the bakery just opened!"  And, "remember when Trip had that onesie that matched the wall perfectly?"

Welcome to our life HGB, we hope you like living/working with us.  Welcome to the world, JFW, we're so excited you're here!

Love,
Mommy & Daddy

*I'm not entirely sure if it's the baby or the bakery asking the question here.  But in the land of making things that don't talk carry a conversation, I believe that either is entirely plausible.

**Also:  as if "onesie" isn't a recognized word?  Surely that should be in the dictionary by now.
